My old dog Jasmine spied
a warty brown toad.
Her nose touched his back-
that nose wet and cold!

It startled the toad and
he suddenly froze,
And next he struck
a verystrange pose:

All four legs outstretched and
with nowhere to hide,
He thrust his head up
and his eyes opened wide!

Jasmine was puzzled…this was
no normal toad.
In just seconds he’d morphed
into freaky fight-mode!

Having seen many toads
in her lifetime before,
Jasmine thought ‘Is this really
worth starting a war?’

So with one more quick sniff
and a turn of her paw
She sheepishly left
without settling the score.

As for toad, he stood still
In his fight-mode he stayed
‘Til for lack of the dog
it did finally fade.

This menacing foe who
had seemed oh so bold,
Had once more become
just a warty brown toad.
